MARINE SALT

SELECT AN FAQ CATEGORY

Why does my salt mixing bucket have beige-colored deposits on the sides?

This is likely the result of using tap water or highly alkaline water, which can cause some precipitation when mixing with salt. Unless you see waste material or discoloration within the salt itself, it is likely not the problem.

Your salt features strong levels of Calcium and Magnesium. Do I need to supplement those elements?

While Fluval salt is reef-capable, additional calcium and magnesium supplementation may be required depending on the quantity and variety of calcium and magnesium-consuming organisms in your tank – namely, corals and coraline algae.

Using RO water, I mixed in your salt and noticed my pH is 8.1 to 8.2 after only a few minutes. Can I introduce the resulting mix within the first 10 minutes?

Yes. Fluval SEA Marine Salt mixes clear in the first few minutes, and maintains a safe, stable pH of 8.1 to 8.2.
